Chicago Gaelic Park and Chicago Irish Singers Club Presents “Sing With the All Ireland Singing Champions” Concert and Workshop

Celebrating Irish Traditional Song – Feb 25th, 2024

Want to hear some of the greatest Irish Singers in the World? Then plan to attend the “SING WITH THE ALL-IRELAND CHAMPIONS” concert, taking place Sunday Feb 25th 330pm at Chicago Gaelic Park in Oak Forest. The concert will be preceded by a workshop at 1100am, where attendees are guaranteed to learn an Irish song, an English language song, and a lilt, and then perform them in the concert.

Featured artists and teachers for the day are well-known All-Ireland Champions in multiple singing traditions Eimear Arkins and Brian Ó hAirt. Clare native Eimear holds eleven All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil titles, including Irish Singing, English Singing, Lilting, and fiddle.

Brian Ó hAirt is the only American to ever win the coveted All-Ireland in Men’s Irish Singing. Proficient in Gaelic language, concertina, accordion, and tin whistle, his singing and playing have been featured on radio programs across the United States, and Ireland. Brian is a master mentor for Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program grantees from the states of Oregon and Ohio.

Don’t’ miss these two talented singer-musicians at the optional workshop starting 1100am Sunday Feb 25th, followed by the concert starting at 330pm to 500pm. Joining in concert fun will be local singer-musician Pat Broaders. Pat grew up in Dublin, launching his journey in traditional music at the age of eight, studying whistle, uilleann pipes, the bouzouki and singing. Pat has performed with many greats including Dennis Cahill, Liz Carroll, Martin Hayes, John Doyle, Paddy O’Brien, Mick O’Brien, Robbie O’Connell, and Danú. We know him here at Gaelic Park thru his collaboration with Jimmy Keane and Bohola for over 15 years.
