Chicago GAA Hall of History - Opening Night
Dear Friends:
When Irish Immigrants packed their bags to begin the journey to America between 1850 and 60, the passion for their cultural games made the trip as well. As you know after years of being “no fixed abode” this same community came together and developed a solution.
In the summer of 1985, Chicago Gaelic Park was no longer a dream, yet a reality and opened with a day of matches and a festival to stake a flag as their forever home for GAA Games and Celtic heritage to continue. Finally, a place to enjoy, continue to promote, teach, invite fierce competition and carry on Ireland’s national games.
We are excited to share that over the past year a project has been in the works to allow us to pay tribute to our Chicago GAA History. This exhibit hall will showcase memorabilia, images and stories in a unique way to honor the strength of Chicago’s GAA Community to preserve its history and encourage the generations to come.
